A full run down on how to Dynamax your Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
Dynamax has finally arrived in Pokémon GO. The feature, that debuted in Pokémon Sword and Shield has been much anticipated and is one of the biggest shake ups to come to the game in years. Dynamax is a whole new form for your Pokémon.
So, with Pokémon GO finally getting this feature, how does it work and what Pokémon can Dynamax?
Can all Pokémon Dynamax in Pokémon GO?
Unfortunately, none of your existing Pokémon will be able to Dynamax. The only Pokémon that can Dynamax are specific Dynamax versions of Pokémon. These can be acquired either through a Dynamax Max Battle or through Research like the To the Max! Special Research. In addition, Dynamax Pokémon can be found in the wild at Power Spots throughout the map.
So, that means you'll need to get out there and gather new Pokémon for your collection to take advantage of this new feature. At the moment, we have the following Pokémon that are able to Dynamax.
- Bulbasaur
- Ivysaur
- Venusaur
- Charmander
- Charmeleon
- Charizard
- Squirtle
- Wartortle
- Blastoise
- Skwovet
- Greedent
- Wooloo
- Dubwool
Expect more Pokémon to release over the coming weeks, months and years.

How to Dynamax a Pokémon in Pokémon GO
Dynamaxing an eligible Pokémon in Pokémon GO is pretty simple. It works like you'd remember from Sword and Shield. Your Dynamax Pokémon can only Dynamax in a Max Battle.
When they are Dynamaxed they can use powerful Max Moves. Your Pokémon will only be Dynamaxed for three turns, so make the most of it while you can.
What are Max Moves?
Max Moves are special moves that you can only use when your Pokémon is Dynamaxed.
Dynamax Pokémon can learn up to three Max Moves: an attack, Max Spirit, and Max Guard. While a Pokémon is Dynamaxed, their first Max Move is a powerful attack that’s based on the type of their Fast Attack. Then, Max Spirit heals both the Pokémon that used it and their allies. Additionally, Max Guard reduces damage taken from an opposing Power Spot Boss.
These Max Moves can be levelled up using Max Particles and candy for that Pokémon.
