Get set for Gigantamax Venusaur in Pokémon GO.

Gigantamax Raids are arriving with a bang into Pokémon GO this weekend. We're getting the debuts of the Gigantamax forms of all three of the games original starters. Gigantamax Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard will be in Pokémon GO for the first time in special Max Battles all weekend.

The issue is, these battles are going to be incredibly hard to take down. Gigantamax Pokémon are incredibly powerful, and you will need a lot of help to win one of these Max Battles. So, you'll want to be prepared. Here's everything you need to know before you battle Gigantamax Venusaur in Pokémon GO:

How many trainers do I need to beat Gigantamax Venusaur in Pokémon GO?

Unfortunatley, you are going to need 20-25 Trainers with good counters to beat Gigantamax Venusaur in Pokémon GO. This will make the Max Battle difficult for rural trainers, and those without an organised community of people to play with.

The maximum number of Trainers is 40, and it takes at least 35 to find this Max Battle "comfortable" according to early reports.

Over time, Gigantamax Max Battles should get easier in Pokémon GO. One of the main issues is that most Trainers don't have high level or effective counters due to Dynamax Pokémon only being out a few weeks. If you're a strong group of Trainers with a clear strategy of when to use Shields and healing, with your Max Moves upgraded all the way and high level Dynamax Pokémon you might be able to do this with 15 Trainers.

Best Gigantamax Venusaur counters

There aren't many Dynamax Pokémon to choose from in Pokémon GO at the moment. That makes options limited. Gigantamax Venusaur has four weaknesses in Pokémon GO, they are to Fire, Flying, Ice and Psychic-type attacks.

As a result, the best Gigantamax Venusaur counters are:

  • Dynamax Charizard
  • Dynamax Metagross
  • Dynamax Cinderace

These are the three Dynamax Pokémon that counter Gigantamax Venusaur and this is the best possible team you can have for this Max Battle.

Pokémon GO Gigantamax Max Battle tips

You absolutely need to be coordinated to win this Max Battle. Get onto Campfire, see if you have a local Community Ambassador or any other Trainers nearby. Then, in battle, you'll need to keep coordinated too. Have some Trainers use shields and healing each turn, and others attack.

Additionally, make sure you have good counters (if possible) and also reserve your best Pokémon for the end of the Raid. The Max Meter will charge faster at the end of the Battle. This is because once all your Pokémon are knocked out, you can stay involved in the Raid by cheering. Cheering helps the Max Meter charge faster. So, if you don't have the best counters you can still contribute to your team's success.

Good luck taking on Gigantamax Venusaur in Pokémon GO, Trainer. Stay tuned to esports.gg for the latest esports news and more Pokémon GO guides.
