How can you get Victini in Pokémon GO?

Pokémon 0494 in Pokémon GO can be a bit of a mystery. It sits, unusually, at the start of the Unova PokéDex, ahead of the starters. This Pokémon is Victini, a rare mythical Pokémon that was first debuted in Pokémon Black and White.

For a lot of Trainers in Pokémon GO, Victini might be the only Unova Pokémon they don't have in their collection. So, how can you get your hands on Pokémon 0494 and complete your Unova Dex in Pokémon GO?

How do you get Victini in Pokémon GO?

Victini is a Mythical Pokémon, and like other mythicals including Marshadow was released through a special Research quest line released at a GO Fest. It was released back in 2020, through the "Rocket Straight to Victory" research that all Pokémon GO attendees were able to complete.

Then, Victini was released worldwide in 2021. Trainers could complete "The Feeling of Victory" research in able to fill that pesky 0494 slot in their Pokémon GO PokéDex.

However, what do you do if you don't have either of those Research quests in Pokémon GO? Unfortunately, there is no other way to get Victini in the game at the moment.

Will Victini be avaliable again in Pokémon GO?

It is likely that at some point in the future, Niantic will re-release Victini. They have re-released several Mythical Pokémon. It is likely that Victini could re-release during the future Unova Tour event. It is likely that this would come in the form of a tough Masterwork Research.

Masterwork Research quests are long and arduous in Pokémon GO, and they also are not free. You'll likely have to pay something in the region of $4.99 to fill that 0494 slot in your Pokémon GO collection.

Can Victini be shiny?

Currently Victini cannot be Shiny in Pokémon GO.

This means we might see a Shiny Victini release via a Research ticket at some point in the future. Niantic has released other mythical Pokémon in the shiny form in this way. Victini hasn't ever been avaliable in the shiny form, so there is hope there.

If you're waiting on Victini's return, you might have to be patient. Stay tuned to esports.gg for the latest esports news and more Pokémon GO guides.
