Just like in anime, Guzzlord ex is capable of devouring anything in its path, especially your opponent’s low-HP Pokémon.
Are you trying to build a Guzzlord ex deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket? With the release of the Extradimensional Crisis themed pack, Ultra Beasts are now becoming an essential part of many meta decks, and Guzzlord ex is no exception.
With a whopping 170 HP, Guzzlord ex is definitely a tough nut to crack. The only Pokémon that can take it down in just a couple of turns are other Pokémon ex, but dealing that much damage usually requires a lot of Energy cards.
Guzzlord ex’s Grindcore can further delay an opposing Pokémon from attacking by discarding a random amount of Energy, determined by a Misty-like coin toss mechanic.
Once Guzzlord ex has enough Energy, it can use its second move, Tyrannical Hole, which deals 120 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon.
The following Guzzlord ex deck will surely help you maximize the potential of the Junkivore Pokémon with the help of its fellow Ultra Beasts.
Guzzlord ex deck list: Ultra Beast overload

How to play the Guzzlord ex deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket

At the early phases of the game, you can rely on Nihilego if you want some aggression in the first few turns. However, feel free to start with Guzzlord ex if you have it in your hand.
Keep Celesteela on your Bench, and using its ability, you can switch Guzzlord ex and Nihilego without paying their Retreat cost. Nihilego is for inflicting the Poison special condition, while Guzzlord ex is for dealing massive damage.
Take advantage of your Poison Barbs and Beastite to keep the pressure on the enemy’s team. If you have two Celesteela in play, you switch one of them with your active Guzzlord to keep it safe from an incoming attack before your turn ends.

Other notable cards in the Guzzlord deck

Lusamine is a staple card in any Ultra Beast-themed deck. If any of your Pokémon gets Knocked Out, use Lusamine to power up your Guzzlord ex with two Energy.
Pokémon Center Lady is your main healing piece, especially at times when you can’t afford to lose your Guzzlord ex or Celesteela.
Cyrus and Guzma are only usable for specific scenarios, but they are extremely helpful if your opponent relies on switching or using lots of Tool cards.
Strengths
Darkrai ex won’t be much of a threat for this deck, as the tick damage won’t be enough to take all the Ultra Beasts down in a few turns. Using a couple of Pokémon Center Lady will make Darkrai ex’s ability less effective.
Guzzlord ex’s Tyrannical Hole does the same damage as Buzzwole ex’s Big Beat, but Guzzlord ex can use its main move every turn. Moreover, if your opponent plays an Oricorio, you can get rid of it using Nihilego.
Weakness
This deck can brick if you can’t get one copy of Guzzlord ex early on. Guzzlord ex’s four-Energy move is also too slow against other decks, especially if you’re going against a Silvally.
Without Guzzlord, this deck lacks any reliable damage dealer. Nihilego, with its mere 70 HP, and Celesteela, with its unreliable attack, can be quickly routed by other Pokémon ex in the meta.
