Overwatch 2 players can now duke it out in the new Spirit Showdown event and complete a bunch of new challenges for in-game rewards. Read on for our quick rundown of how the Spirit Showdown game mode works and more!

Overwatch 2 Spirit Showdown event
The Spirit Showdown event runs from Nov. 11 to Nov. 25, giving players a couple of weeks to progress through 11 challenges for some in-game freebies. To quickly access this event, launch Overwatch 2 and select the "Spirit Showdown" option from the main menu. Then, hit the "Play" button.

Overwatch 2 Spirit Showdown game mode
Spirit Showdown is a five-versus-five (5v5) game mode that involves swapping heroes. You change heroes whenever you eliminate another player or when you die twice. The former happens rather quickly, so be prepared the moment you get an elimination. Think of Spirit Showdown as a fast-paced, chaotic mode with a hero pool that constantly changes.

Before you jump into the fray, you must select your hero role. This can be tank, damage, support, or flex. You're locked into this role for the rest of the match, and you begin with a random hero of this chosen role. In our case, we opted for the damage role. Therefore, whenever we eliminated an enemy, we became another damage hero.

Overwatch 2 Spirit Showdown challenges and rewards
You earn progress toward the Spirit Showdown 11 challenges after completing a match. Finishing a challenge grants you in-game goodies such as lots of Overwatch 2 Season 19 Battle Pass XP, an epic loot box, two adorable cat-themed player icons, the Festival Nights name card, and the Ghost Kitty weapon charm as well.
That's all for now. Are you ready to join the Spirit Showdown shenanigans? Stick around on esports.gg for more Overwatch 2 news and updates!
