Go rest up so you can level up in Oblivion Remastered.

The process to level up in Oblivion Remastered isn't nearly as simple as it is in other RPGs. You can't just access a menu at any time and immediately improve your character's attributes and stats. Instead, Oblivion Remastered requires you to find a bed to level up, as your body needs to rest to focus on improvement.

While the process is a bit outdated in terms of modern gaming, it's a core feature of the original game and the remaster stays true to the mechanic. Of course, if you never played the original Oblivion, then you likely have a few questions about leveling up. Fortunately, we have all of the answers you need in the guide below. Also, make sure to check out our guide on how to download mods in Oblivion Remastered if you want to change some of the game's core mechanics.

How to level up in Oblivion Remastered

First things first, you need to actually be ready to level up in Oblivion Remastered before you can think about the actual process to do so.

You'll know you're ready to go up a level when you see the orange-glowing moon and arrow icon appear on the top-right part of your HUD. This icon indicates you've met the necessary XP requirements for your current level and you're ready to advance to the next level.

So, when you see that icon, it's time to find a bed.

How to find a bed in Oblivion Remastered

Now that you're ready to level up, you need to find a bed so you can rest and access the level up menu.

The easiest way to find a bed in Oblivion Remastered is by visiting any one of the inns in Cyrodiil. One of the first inns I was able to find is The Merchants Inn, which is located in the Market District of the Imperial City. However, you can find inns all over the map, mostly in the bigger towns and cities that are spread across the map.

You can also purchase your own house in Oblivion Remastered that comes with a bed, but that won't happen until you're several hours into the game. Until that point comes, the easiest bed to find is one in an inn.

Beds in inns cost a small amount of gold to rent for the night. The one at The Merchants Inn costs 20 gold and you gain access to some food and other items in the room itself.

Regardless of how you find a bed, when you're near one, approach it and then choose the time you want to rest for. After you specify a time, the level up menu appears on your screen.

At the level up menu, you can choose three attributes to allocate 12 points to. You can allocate these points any way you would like, so you can dump more into one attribute if you want. After all 12 points have been added to your attributes, press "Confirm," and your character will progress to the next level in Oblivion Remastered.

That's all there is to leveling up. It can be difficult to find a bed as quickly as you might want, especially if you're out exploring, but as long as you know what to look for, you shouldn't have a hard time finding one.
