Rematch has a full-fledged Ranked mode, but how does it work?

Rematch has now been fully released, and the new soccer game is available to all players worldwide. At launch, developer Sloclap has added a plethora of content, including a few different game modes and other forms of customization. However, perhaps the most exciting aspect of Rematch early on is the Ranked mode, which allows players to test their skills in a competitive environment.

In the guide below, you can see all of the available ranks you can go through in Rematch Ranked, along with a general explanation of how the mode works.

When you first enter Ranked mode, you'll be placed into a 5v5 lobby with other players. Ranked only features 5v5 matches in Rematch, but this could be amended in the future and include 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 matches.

Placement Matches

Upon entering your first match, you won't have a rank yet, as the game doesn't know how good of a player you are. To earn a rank next to your name, you have to complete five placement matches, after which, you'll be assigned a rank that coincides with your performance in Ranked. As you might expect, you can go up and down in the ranking system depending on how many games you win or lose. This is all accounted for by RP, which is the points you earn or lose to go up and down in the ranks.

At this point in time, personal performance in Ranked beyond your placement matches doesn't seem to impact your RP. Only winning and losing affect how much RP you earn or lose. If you win, you'll earn a set amount of RP, and if you earn enough, you'll progress to a higher rank. However, losing a match loses RP and could drop you down to a lower rank if you lose enough matches.

Ranked Divisions and Ranks

Every rank in Rematch features three divisions, and you need to rank up to the highest division in order to reach the next rank. For example, if you start at Silver 3 in Ranked, you need to rank up to Silver 1 and then earn enough RP to reach Gold 3. Every division in Ranked is made up of 100 RP, so that's how much you need to earn to proceed to the next division and eventually the next rank.

Whenever you gain the ability to ascend to a new rank in Rematch, you'll have to play a best-of-three promotion match. If you win two of those promotion games, you'll proceed to the higher rank. However, if you lose, you lose RP and have to earn more to get the chance to win your promotion games again.

Rewards

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there are no visible rewards for competing in Ranked mode in Rematch. Even if you make it to the top rank, you won't earn any rewards, at least for now.

Currently, there are six individual ranks in Rematch, and each has three divisions. You can see what those are below:

  • Bronze 3
  • Bronze 2
  • Bronze 1
  • Silver 3
  • Silver 2
  • Silver 1
  • Gold 3
  • Gold 2
  • Gold 1
  • Platinum 3
  • Platinum 2
  • Platinum 1
  • Diamond 3
  • Diamond 2
  • Diamond 1
  • Elite 3
  • Elite 2
  • Elite 1

The max RP you can earn, which places you at Elite 1, is 1,700 RP. You begin at 100 RP at Bronze 3. So, for example, if your placement matches place you at Gold 3, you need to earn 1,100 RP to reach the peak of Elite 1. Every win in Ranked earns you roughly 20 RP, while a loss will cost you around 15-17 RP.
