Check out our guide on mastering Chang’e the mage hero in MLBB.
Chang’e is a powerhouse mage when it comes to split push in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). Her mix of movement speed, shield, and powerful magic damage basic attacks makes it hard for enemies to catch up to her rotations. On top of that, her wave clear is so powerful once you hit Level 4. This is due to her Ultimate, which can also be used to take down major objectives quickly.
However, there are strict conditions for this hero to work. Her shield needs to be up all the time if you want consistency in terms of damage. Without it, she loses a lot of what makes her special. This is what’s keeping her from being a meta pick. Despite this, she is still a reliable pick if you prefer a split-pushing playstyle.
With that said, here is a guide on the MLBB mage hero Chang’e, including her best items, skills, emblem, combos, and counters.
Skill analysis for Chang'e in MLBB
Passive: Trouble Maker
Each time Chang’e damages an enemy, she leaves a mark on them that gradually reduces their Movement Speed. This effect can stack up to a certain limit.
Skill 1: Starmoon Shockwave
Chang’e launches an energy sphere in the target direction, dealing Magic Damage to enemies it hits and slightly slowing them for a short duration.
Crescent Moon: The Crescent Moon releases several additional energy spheres alongside Chang’e’s, each dealing reduced damage. The slow effect can stack up to a limit.
Skill 2: Crescent Moon
Chang’e summons the Crescent Moon, gaining a lasting shield and a boost to Movement Speed that remains until the shield is broken. Each time she casts a skill, she briefly gains an extra burst of speed that gradually fades. The Crescent Moon also enhances her Basic Attacks to deal additional Magic Damage multiple times.
Whenever Chang’e deals Magic Damage with her Basic Attacks or skills, the cooldown of this ability is slightly reduced.
Ultimate: Meteor Shower
Chang’e rains down a barrage of meteors in the target direction over a few seconds, each striking the first enemy hit for Magic Damage. This ability deals extra damage to Minions and Creeps, while also granting Chang’e a boost of Movement Speed during its duration.
Crescent Moon: The Crescent Moon joins in, unleashing additional meteors that deal reduced damage.
Best Chang'e item build in MLBB

For your first item, focus on getting some attack speed items like Swift Boots and Feather of Heaven. Grab a Golden Staff as your third item for even more attack speed. Once you have your split pushing items, get a Holy Crystal for a massive Magic Damage boost.
In the late game, get a Blood Wings for the extra shield effect. To amp up the damage, finish your build with a Diving Glaive for the Magic Penetration.
If you snowball in the early game, consider getting a Sky Piercer before getting your Golden Staff, and start racking up some kills to increase the execution effect. If you are struggling to survive, get Immortality as your late-game item.

Recommended emblem and battle spell for Chang'e

For the emblem set, start with the Thrill in the first slot for the Adaptive Attack. The second slot can have either Bargain Hunter for cheaper item prices or Weapons Master for bigger stats gained from various sources. The final slot will be Weakness Finder, so your basic attacks will slow enemies.
For the Battle Spell, you can have Flicker for more escape options or Sprint so you can kite enemies easily.
Easy combo tips to learn
Chang'e has a very simple combo, just keep doing basic attacks. Of course, you need to have the shield of your Skill 2: Crescent Moon up to get the multi-hit effect. This is the trickiest part because her shield can melt easily with any attack. Her Skill 1: Starmoon Shockwave is also a good source of burst damage and can slow down enemies.

To keep your shield up, always stay behind your allies whenever possible. Don't let enemies get too close to you and break your shield. Once you don't have a shield, you can't do anything as your damage gets reduced significantly.
Your goal in the early game is to apply as much pressure on the three lanes. Try and clear the Mid Lane fast and then rotate on Gold Lane to help your marksman get some space to farm. Keep an eye on the map. If a fight happens on other lanes and most of your enemies are busy, try and push some turrets on the other side. You can easily clear waves with your Ultimate, so pushing will be very easy for you, even if you're alone.

Hero and item counters for Chang'e
Hero counters
Chang'e is very vulnerable to heroes who can deal massive damage in one blow, like Saber, Hayabusa, or Jawhead. However, if you are not the main damage dealer, you can go for supportive heroes like Chou or Baxa to peel off her shield.
Another unique hero that can counter Chang'e is Lolita. This is because her Skill 2: Guardian's Reflection can deflect projectiles. This includes her basic attacks and Ultimate.
Item counters
Building Magic Defense items like Radiant Armor or Oracle can greatly reduce the effectiveness of Chang'e in a fight. Alternatively, you can also use Athena's Shield for a brief Magic Defense boost or reduce her shield power with Glowing Wand for mages and Dominance Ice for tanks and fighters.
