Is last-gen saved for MLB The Show 25 players?
It's spring time and that means one thing: a new MLB The Show has been released. MLB The Show 25 is the latest installment in the storied franchise, and its new features and general improvements have the baseball community extremely excited for the year ahead. However, there is a crowd of players who might not be as excited as everyone else. Those on PS4 and Xbox One are likely wondering if they'll ever have the chance to play MLB The Show 25.
The last-generation consoles have beginning to be more and more obsolete as the 2020s roll on, but can fans expect to see a new baseball game in 2025?

Unfortunately, the developers of MLB The Show 25 have already announced that a port for the last-generation consoles will not be developed. This is the first time that an MLB The Show game has not been available on PS4 or Xbox One since the consoles were first launched over a decade ago. It's not just last-gen support either, as Sony has decided not to make MLB The Show 25 available on Xbox Game Pass either.
The decision to stop last-gen support likely has to deal with the technical limitations of the older consoles. MLB The Show has been making strides with its advancements and the ancient PS4 and Xbox One hardware likely wouldn't have been able to keep up. If the developers did make a port for those consoles, it would have presumably been detrimental to the current-gen platforms and players wouldn't have had as many new features.
