Here’s your first look at all of the abilities for The Thing of the Fantastic Four as he joins the roster of Marvel Rivals.
Ben Grimm is here to shake things up, figuratively and literally. He'll join Marvel Rivals alongside his buddy Johnny Storm, bringing with him some powerful abilities only suitable for The Thing.
So, let's get to clobberin' as we take a look at this Vanguard's usefulness. From strong punches to earth-shattering slams, The Thing already looks like he'll be a fan-favorite in the meta.
All The Thing abilities and team-ups in Marvel Rivals
The Thing has a great mix of abilities in Marvel Rivals. He can control the crowd, knockback dangerous foes, and put the hurt on anyone.
Here's each one and what it does:
- Rocky Jab - Rapidly punch forward.
- Unyielding Will (Passive) - Immune to launch-up, knock-back, and other displacement effects.
- Stone Haymaker - Deliver a devastating Heavy Blow.
- Embattled Leap - Jump toward your ally and apply damage reduction to both of you.
- Yancy Street Charge - Continuously charge forward, launching up enemies and leaving behind a zone at the final position that prevents the use of mobility abilities.
- Clobberin' Time (Ultimate) - Use immense power to launch all enemies in front of you into the air.
In addition, The Thing has a couple of team-ups you can utilize in battle. These are:
- Cooperative Comrades - The Invisible Woman taps into her powers, channeling Psionic Might to fortify the entire Fantastic Four team. This formidable force bolsters Mister Fantastic, The Thing, and Human Torch, granting damage resistance. Once activated, they can continually generate Bonus Health, making up for lost Health with each passing moment.
- Cosmic Fastball - Wolverine, Hulk, and The Thing can interact with each other. Once both parties confirm, Hulk and The Thing can lift Wolverine and press the key to hurl him forward.

The Thing launches at the same time Human Torch does, so you can use their abilities in a duo in Marvel Rivals if you've got a friend. That time is the Season 1.5 update.
The game goes down for maintenance at 1 a.m. PST on February 21, 2025. Expect about three hours of downtime, and when it is complete, clobber clobber clobber!
