Marathon is the exciting new extraction shooter from developer Bungie, the same team behind Destiny and the original Halo games. From what we've seen about Marathon, it has a unique art style, and the gameplay seems like a blend of several different genres. While much of Marathon is still shrouded in mystery, we do know what platforms the game is available on.
Some players assumed that Marathon would be a PlayStation-exclusive title given that developer Bungie is owned by Sony Interactive. However, it's confirmed that this isn't the case, allowing a far wider range of players to play the new extraction shooter. Below, you can see all of the platforms Marathon is on and some other details about how to play the game.
What platforms is Marathon on?
According to the official FAQ on Bungie's website, Marathon is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It looks like Marathon is only available through Steam on PC, but that could change at a later date if a marketplace such as Epic Games Store wants to get in on the mix.
Even though Bungie is owned by Sony, it's arriving on two Microsoft platforms when it launches. However, Marathon won't be available on the last-generation consoles or the Nintendo Switch. This means any PS4 and Xbox One users will have to make the upgrade to current-gen if they want to get their hands on Marathon. It's also possible that Marathon could arrive on the Switch 2 when it releases later in 2025, but nothing on that front has been confirmed.

Is Marathon crossplay?
It also hasn't been confirmed whether or not Marathon will feature crossplay or cross-progression either. While crossplay seems like a strong possibility given that Bungie's other major title, Destiny 2, currently features it, Marathon could be a different story.
If Marathon does end up being crossplay, then you'll be able to play with any friend regardless of what platform they're on.
When is the release date for Marathon?
As for a possible release date for Marathon, we don't have any such news yet. All we know right now is that Marathon is having a gameplay showcase on April 12 and that a possible alpha test could come after the showcase has concluded. With Marathon seemingly only being in its alpha version right now, though, it's unlikely we'll see a concrete release date for the game anytime soon.
