Here’s how you can unlock all four maps and the harder difficulties in the LoL: Swarm game mode.

Swarm, the PvE League of Legends game mode, is finally here! Swarm has four playable maps and three difficulties - here's a guide on how to unlock all LoL Swarm maps.

League of Legends (LoL) Swarm Maps

The four maps are Warehouse District, The Outskirts, Subterranean Lab, and The Beachhead. Each map has its own unique mechanic, boss and unlock requirements. The maps also progress in difficulty from Story, to Hard, to Extreme.

To spawn the boss in each map, you must survive for 15 minutes.

Warehouse District is unlocked at Story Mode by default when you start Swarm. It features a healing fountain in the middle that can heal the entire party in a large area.

The Outskirts can be unlocked once you beat the Warehouse District boss. It has a powerful turret that you can power up by picking up Fuel Cells around the map and bringing it to the turret.

How to unlock Hard and Extreme difficulties in LoL Swarm

The two, more challenging difficulties can be unlocked by progressing even further into Swarm.

Hard mode for all maps is unlocked once you defeat the "final boss" on The Beachhead. Once you get enough upgrades and are equipped with a powerful build, this should be a walk in the park.

Unlocking Extreme is a bit more work, though. To unlock this hardest difficulty in Swarm, you must beat all four maps in Hard.

A reminder that dying is part of Swarm's gameplay! It's designed as a rogue-like, much like Vampire Survivors, and the meta progression is there to help you. It's fine to die - experiment with your builds and amass gold to upgrade your stats like Damage, Armor, and Critical Chance.

Swarm is live with LoL patch 14.14. It's scheduled to end on August 19, 2024, but Riot Games has expressed openness to extending the Swarm's availability.
