Read up about the new mechanics on Ultimate Spellbook!

Ultimate Spellbook is making its return in League of Legends patch 14.19! There are a lot of changes and optimizations to make the player experience better with this newest LoL Ultimate Spellbook run.

When will Ultimate Spellbook 2024 release?

Ultimate Spellbook will be available on September 25, 2024 with League of Legends patch 14.19. It will be live until November 5, 2024, just before patch 14.21 ships.

The last time it was playable was on patch 12.17, way back in September 2022.

Ultimate Spellbook in League of Legends explained

The Ultimate Spellbook run in 2024 replaces Arena as the rotating game mode.

It retains the core mechanics of the old Ultimate Spellbook in LoL. You start the game presented with four Ulternate Summoner choices. The difference is that your choice is no longer permanent. You no longer have to sit through 30 minutes of a game lamenting the fact that your best ult choice was Kai'Sa's Killer Instinct.

New Ulternate Summoner Switching

Eight minutes into the game, then every six minutes after that, you get the chance to reroll your Ult-ernate Summoner the next time you die or recall.

You get three new randomized Ult-ernates to choose from and the choice to keep your current one. The game incentivizes you to change though: you get permanent, stacking Adaptive Power, Armor, and Magic Resist each time you swap.

New Attack-Smite, Jungling

The jungle gets a changeup too, since the role has vastly changed since the last time the game mode was live. Attack-Smite now starts at 600 damage, then 900, then 1200, as you acquire stacks for your jungle pet. This functions majorly like the real Smite Summoner Spell.

The Rift Herald will no longer spawn on the Rift. It's now replaced by two waves of the Voidgrubs, but the Eye of the Herald still drops from Baron Nashor.

Dragons function mostly the same. They, along with the rest of the Epic Monsters, are on a faster respawn timer.

Ulternate Summoner Charge

Apart from the ability to swap your ults, there's another new mechanic: the Ulternate Summoner Charge.

The whole team gets one charge by acquiring the Dragon Soul or slaying Baron Nashor and Elder Dragon. Despite many sources, the Charge cannot be stacked. You get the Charge whether you are alive or dead when the objective is acquired.

If you have a Charge, your next Ulternate Summoner cast will effectively have a three-second cooldown. This allows you to potentially cast two ultimates in quick succession.

Ultimate Spellbook will be available on September 25, 2024 with League of Legends patch 14.19.
