League of Legends is getting a new epic monster: Atakhan!

Riot Games revealed a lot of changes for the League of Legends Season One 2025. One of them being Atakhan, League of Legends' newest epic monster.

Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin in League of Legends

Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin is the new epic monster you will see in your LoL games beginning Season One of 2025. Atakhan is unique in that he has two forms and can appear in multiple spots in the map.

He can either spawn in the top or bottom side of the map (on the entrance to the river, in the corners), depending on which side of the map has seen more champion damage and kills by 14 minutes. At 14:00, Atakhan will mark his territory by spawning permanent walls around his "pit."

Whichever from he takes and wherever he spawns, he will spawn in 20 minutes in. "But what about Baron Nashor?," you ask. As part of the bigger changes to the map, Baron Nashor will now spawn at 25:00. Voidgrubs are not affected.

He does not respawn.

Atakhan has two forms: Ruinous and Voracious.

Ruinous Atakhan will spawn in games with higher action. Killing this version of the demon will grant the team permanent increased effects from all Epic Monster rewards. Upon death, Blood Petals are granted to the killing team and Blood Roses will spawn in the pit for anybody to collect. More on this new plant below.

Voracious Atakhan spawns in games with less action. The team which secures this version will be granted a temporary, one-time rebirth buff. When you die when this buff is active, it will be consumed and you will respawn in your team's Fountain immediately.

Blood Roses are new plants that spawn periodically around areas where champions have died and around Atakhan's designated spawn location. Hitting these plants drop Blood Petals, granting a small amount of XP and an infinite, permanently stacking Adaptive Force buff.

Atakhan in LoR

If you are a Legends of Runeterra player, Atakhan may be familiar to you.

He is closely tied to the Black Rose. The cabal is holding this demon against his will, and he is aware of LeBlanc's existence, much to the surprise of the latter.
