Which Honkai Star Rail version 4.2 banner is better?
First of all, you should pull whoever you want to.
When it comes to comparing our two new 5-star characters, though, there is an obvious choice. If meta and power are more important to you than the character’s personality and appearance, then Silver Wolf LV.999 is a good investment for your Stellar Jades.

Not only does her kit feature one of the only two global passives in Honkai Star Rail, Silver Wolf LV.999 just has overall the more valuable abilities. We don’t have official numbers and scalings just yet, though, so this can still change in the future.
Silver Wolf LV.999 has some randomness built into her kit, though. If you’re not a fan of this, then Evanescia might be the better choice. After all, it’s not like she’s completely worthless and can still be strong after some investment. Initial reactions to her leaked kit were quite negative, but after getting some buffs on the beta build, there’s a bit of hope for her now.

Both characters are of the Elation Path, meaning they would benefit from all Elation buffs on limited-time events and the Divergent Universe. Keeping that in mind, you can rest assured that both Silver Wolf LV.999 and Evanescia will receive in-game support for the entire span of the Planarcadia arc.
Honkai Star Rail version 4.2 goes live on April 22, 2026.
