There are free items waiting for you in a Warchest in Highguard.
A War Chest in Highguard is similar to a Battle Pass in other free-to-play shooters, like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Marvel Rivals. The War Chest features dozens of cosmetics you can earn for your account, but you need to purchase it to unlock everything that it has to offer. At the release of Highguard, the first War Chest offers 44 rewards to claim, but some players might not want to spend money on a brand new game.
Fortunately, you can easily claim a free War Chest and start to unlock those 44 cosmetics by following the guide below.
How to claim your free War Chest in Highguard
Normally, a War Chest would cost you Highguard Gold to purchase, which is the premium currency in Highguard that requires real money to buy. However, for players who download and play Highguard at its launch, there's a free War Chest waiting to be claimed as soon as you log into the game. To see how to claim your War Chest, take a look at the steps below:
- At the main lobby menu in Highguard, navigate to the "Headwall" tab at the top of the screen
- Here, select the "War Chests" section
- In the "Pit Fighters" War Chest box, you'll see that it normally costs 900 Highguard Gold to purchase the War Chest
- However, now it costs 0 Highguard Gold, meaning you can claim it for free
- Select "Buy War Chest" and you'll immediately be able to start earning the 44 items from the Pit Fighters War Chest
- You can unlock items in the War Chest by using Vigil Tokens, which are earned by playing matches in Highguard
- You can also unlock new pages in the War Chest with Vigil Tokens
As time goes on in Highguard, not all future War Chests will be free. The Pit Fighters chest is likely free to celebrate the release of Highguard and reward players who downloaded the game within the first few days/weeks of its launch. In the future, War Chests will cost the regular amount of 900 Highguard Gold, but they'll offer unique rewards compared to all other War Chests.
