There are a few different currencies you can get in Highguard, but what’s the difference between them?

Highguard is a free-to-play first-person shooter, and while its gameplay is different from most games on the market, its microtransaction model follows nearly every other free shooter you can play. This means you can play the game entirely for free, but if you want any additional content, you'll have to spend some money on it. However, this doesn't strictly apply to every extra item in Highguard, as there are three separate currencies that are earned and spent in different ways.

In the guide below, we'll explain each of the three currencies in Highguard so you know exactly what they mean when you start to progress your account.

All currencies in Highguard

As we mentioned before, there are three types of currency in Highguard, which you can view by clicking the small icons in the top-right of the main lobby screen. The icons are a gold triangle, a silver square, and a pink diamond, and you'll see some numbers next to each one.

Here's a brief explanation of what each of these currencies are in Highguard:

  • Highguard Gold (gold triangle icon): The premium currency in Highguard that's used to purchase cosmetics from the in-game Store and War Chests. You can only acquire this currency through real money purchases (similar to V-Bucks in Fortnite)
  • Warden Credits (silver square icon): The secondary currency in Highguard. You'll passively earn Warden Credits as you play matches and complete challenges. They're used to unlock items at the Trading Post, but you can only hold 10,000 at a time
  • Vigil Tokens (pink diamond icon): The final currency in Highguard. Vigil Tokens are only earned by playing matches, and their sole purpose is to unlock items in the War Chest. You can only hold 3,000 Vigil Tokens at a time

And there you have the full rundown of what each currency is in Highguard, how to earn them, and where to spend each one. Essentially, you can earn two of the currencies, Warden Credits and Vigil Tokens, by playing Highguard as a normal player, but the content each of the currencies unlocks is fairly limited. On the other hand, Highguard Gold can be used to buy everything else in the game, but it will cost you real-life money.

Fortunately, the Highguard developers have stated they don't want to price any microtransaction above $20, which means you won't need an excessive amount of Highguard Gold to purchase items from the in-game store.
