Will you be able to play Highguard with friends on other platforms?
Highguard is one of the most anticipated games of the early part of 2026 after its grand debut at The Game Awards in late December. The first-person shooter comes from veterans of the Titanfall and Apex Legends franchises and is launching later this month for PC and current-generation consoles.
However, with Highguard going radio silent on social media after its reveal trailer aired, some fans are curious about what the game is going to offer at release. Namely, will Highguard have crossplay and cross-progression? Read the guide below to find out.
Will Highguard have crossplay at launch?
While we don't know much about Highguard before its January release date, we do know that it will have crossplay from the start. Highguard is available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but no matter what platform you're on, you'll be able to play with anyone else so long as you have crossplay enabled (which will likely be enabled by default).
It's unclear how adding friends and inviting them to a party will work in Highguard, but you'll presumably add friends through their unique in-game name/number. Then, you'll invite them or join their party through a social menu.
When you search for matches, you'll play against any player who has a decent connection near you, including players on other platforms. However, we don't know if there will be matchmaking for only your current platform, which would omit players on other platforms. This type of matchmaking has become popular, especially for console players who wish to avoid potential cheaters on PC.
Will Highguard have cross-progression?
In addition to crossplay, Highguard will also feature full cross-progression at launch. This means, regardless of what platform you play on, you'll keep your account's progression so long as you log into that account. For example, if you primarily play on PC but you decide to use a PS5 one day, you can still access your account's full progression from your time on PC.
And there you have it, Highguard is coming equipped with both crossplay and cross-progression at launch. Now, we just have to wait and see if the gameplay can follow suit with an abundance of features.
