Hearthstone Servant of Yogg-Saron Tryouts Tavern Brawl

In this Tavern Brawl, you must select a Hearthstone class before jumping into the fray. Next, the game gives you a random deck of minions. Whenever you play a minion, a random spell is cast. This spell can affect anyone's minions, play secrets, clear the entire board, and more. Again, it's all random.

In our playthrough, for example, we received the Strength in Numbers sidequest from the Druid class despite playing as a Hunter. Soon after, the Professor Slate spell made all of our spells have the Poisonous keyword. This helped with some board clear.

Servant of Yogg-Saron Tryouts Tavern Brawl guide

While this Tavern Brawl is all about random spells, you can strategize a bit and try to make use of the feature at times. For example, thanks to the Halazzi, the Lynx minion, we filled our hand with 1/1 Lynxes with Rush. This proved useful when we had less board control and wanted more random spells to occur.

Playing the Lynx minion helped clear the opponent's side of the board. Additionally, our opponent received the Cursed! spell, which slowed them down and chipped away at their health total.

Servant of Yogg-Saron Tryouts tips

You may have noticed that board control can be useful in this particular Tavern Brawl as well. After we played a randomly buffed Alexstrasza the Life-Binder to help get rid of our opponent's Taunt minion, we went face for some damage.

Meanwhile, our opponent did their best to play minions in hopes of getting a spell to help them out. Unfortunately for them, this resulted in summoning Ragnaros the Firelord on our side of the board. After this happened, our opponent bowed out.

However, this could have gone the other way around as well. Therefore, if you have a board advantage, aim for lethal instead of flooding your side of the board with minions. These minions can result in an area-of-effect (AoE) spell that clears everything.
