Learn all about Genshin Impact’s shark girl Mualani here!

Mualani is one of the first characters from Genshin Impact's newest region, Natlan! Check out what we know about Mualani's kit, skills, Talents, Constellations, and more here.

Who are the Mualani voice actors?

Mualani Kit

Mualani is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst character. She shares this type with Sangonomiya Kokomi, but she is meant to be an on-field damage dealer. Her abilities benefit from her scaling from HP, which also has synergy with the Hydro Resonance boost.

Sharky, her shark companion, accompanies her. Using Sharky as a surfboard, she can traverse land and water quickly.

Note that the details of Mualani's kit below did not come from official sources and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Mualani Combat Skills

The complexity of Mualani's skills is loaded onto her Elemental Skill. Her skill has the Natlan-specific Nightsoul mechanic and also manages her stacks and marks.

Normal Attack: Cooling Treatment

The usual Catalyst normal attack. Her Charged Attack sends a Pufferball into the air, dealing AoE damage.

Elemental Skill: Surfshark Wavebreaker

This implements the new Nightsoul mechanic that Natlan characters have. Upon using it, Mualani gains 60 Nightsoul points and enters the Nightsoul's Blessing state.

While in this state, she will continuously consume Nightsoul. The effect will end when points are depleted or when the Skill is recast. Under the Nightsoul's Blessing effect, Mualani gains the following effects:

  • Mualani rides Sharky Surfboard, granting her extra movement speed and interruption resistance. She can move on water and Phlogiston.
  • Normal Attacks are converted to Sharky's Bites. This deals Nightsoul-aligned Hydro DMG, scaling with her max HP.
  • Colliding with enemies inflicts "Marked as Prey" on them, and grants 1 Wave Momentum stack.

Wave Momentum

  • She can gain 1 stack from the same opponent every 0.7s. Only 3 stacks can be held at a time.
  • The number of Wave Momentum stacks increases the damage of Sharky's Bites. At three stacks, Mualani performs Sharky's Surging Bite, dealing massive damage and consuming all stacks.

Marked as Prey

  • Use Sharky's Bite to consume Marked as Prey.
  • Fire multiple Shark Missiles at enemies with the mark when they are hit.
  • The more enemies are hit, the less damage is dealt.

Elemental Burst: Stormburst Shot

Mualani shoots a homing Super Shark Missile that deals Nightsoul-aligned AoE Hydro DMG. This scales with her Max HP.

Mualani Passive Talents

Oddly enough, she has four passives. Two of them work with "Phlogiston," another mechanic specific to Natlan.

The Trick Is to Keep Smiling!

Restores Phlogiston when harvesting items. She marks nearby Natlan local specialties on the mini-map if she is in the party.

Night Realm's Gift: Crests and Troughs

This passive talent has multiple aspects:

  • Mualani can consume Phlogiston after her Nightsoul points are depleted to maintain the Nightsoul's Blessing form.
  • She will gain 40 Nightsoul points and enter the Nightsoul's Blessing state when switching to her from a character who is sprinting, swimming, or in a "movement mode" from certain Talents.
  • Mualani consumes less Nightsoul and Phlogiston. She consumes even less on Natlan.

Heat-Resistant Freshwater Puffer

  • Puffers spawn when hitting Sharky's Surging Bite. Picking up the Puffer restores 20 Nightsoul to her. Maximum of 2 can spawn each time she enters Nightsoul's Blessing.

Natlan's Greatest Guide

  • Allies triggering Nightsoul grants Mualani a stack, up to 3. Her Elemental Burst consumes all of these stacks to deal extra damage, scaling with her HP.

Mualani Constellations

Mualani's Constellations all work towards giving her more damage and Nightsoul's Blessing uptime.

  1. The Leisurely "Meztli"... - Increase DMG of the first Sharky's Surging Bite and Shark Missiles when she enters Nightsoul's Blessing. Also, consume less Phlogiston and Nightsoul out of combat.
  2. Mualani, Going All Out! - Gain 2 Wave Momentum stacks upon entering Nightsoul's Blessing. Gain 1 stack upon picking up a puffer. Obtaining 2 Puffers in a single Nightsoul's Blessing duration gives bonus Nightsoul points.
  3. Surfing Atop Joyous Seas - Increase level and level cap of Elemental Skill.
  4. Sharky Eats Puffies - She now restores energy when obtaining the Puffer. Her Burst also deals increased DMG.
  5. Same Style of Surfboard on Sale! - Increase level and level cap of Elemental Burst.
  6. Spirit of the Springs' People - C1 effect is no longer restricted to the first instance.

Mualani will be added as a playable character in the Genshin Impact version 5.0 update, scheduled for August 28, 2024.
