How to verify integrity of game files on Steam

It can be one of the most frustrating experiences when you click on your game and it returns an error. One of the common fixes for most errors on Steam is to verify the integrity of game files.

When you follow the process and verify the integrity of your game files, Steam will check if your library has all the necessary game files. Quite often during an update or due to some other reasons, a game might not have a necessary file which then prevents it from launching or operating effectively. 

Once Steam verifies the integrity of the game file and if there are any files missing, it will automatically start a download for the missing files. In most situations, this is enough to fix any errors and you can continue playing your favorite game. 

Step-by-step guide:

When you right click the game, you will see a drop-down menu. Click on properties.

After you see a pop-up window open up, go to Local Files on the left sidebar. This will give you access to the files stored on your computer.

Then click on Verify integrity of game files. It’s as simple as that! And Steam will check for any missing or corrupted files in the system. If it comes across any such files, it will automatically start a download for those files. 

Once those files are downloaded, you should get a message saying a certain number of files have been validated.
