Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, so here are 10 of the best games that you can enjoy with the people you love.

Every year on February 14, people worldwide celebrate Valentine’s Day. With the rise of gaming, more and more couples are using games to connect with one another. There are thousands of multiplayer games out there, but some really bring people together.

Co-op is in the air on Valentine's Day

Be it cooperative (co-op) play or true multiplayer, here is a list of 10 games that you can enjoy with your significant other on Valentine’s Day and beyond. In no particular order, these games come from multiple genres and can produce hours, if not days of fun.

Cuphead

Cuphead’s unique style and run-and-gun gameplay make it extremely interesting. With your partner at your side, you venture through the game, taking down your enemies by adapting to and learning their specific patterns of attack.

Borderlands

With multiple titles in the series, Borderlands is one of the most entertaining games around with a four-player co-op. Although playing through each one separately is not necessary, going through from the first through to the latest can provide hundreds of hours of joy. Couple this with the recent announcement of Borderlands 4’s release date and you have a game franchise that can last the year.

Portal 2

Easily one of the most well-known games in the co-op sphere is Portal 2. While the first game in the series was not available as more than a single-player game, the second changed things up. With that said, a mod does exist to make the first game playable in a co-op scenario. Portal’s puzzles are an amazing way for a couple to connect – and listen to the wonderful, inspirational words of GLaDOS.

Stardew Valley

Peacefully farming in a meadow. Getting a good night of sleep and feeling fully rested. What could be better? Nothing and that is what makes the cozy world of Stardew Valley so perfect. As you farm your way through the seasons, collect bundles, and build relationships within the game, you do the same in the real world.

Don’t Starve Together

Survival games are always more fun with company, as you always have someone to help you build or collect resources. This is no different for Don’t Starve Together, which puts a twist on the original title with co-op. Team up with your significant other and try your best to survive for as long as possible in the wilderness.

Destiny 2

Recently Destiny 2 has seen a huge resurgence. With a new Episode launched, Heresy, the first Act has already shown off some stellar storytelling. While the game has the capacity for 6-player raids and fireteams of up to 3, playing through in a co-op manner is certainly fulfilling. Whether you go through the main story, go Exotic hunting, or simply just explore the game, there is a plethora to do for any couple.

Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) may be a bit more niche than most of the other games on this list. With turn-based combat and choices that can change the story of the game completely, BG3 requires good management of your team and lots of strategizing. However, if these all tick the right boxes for you, then this is the perfect adventure for you and your partner.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Having mentioned BG3, it would be difficult to not bring up Divinity: Original Sin 2 (DoS2). While the mechanics of the game are fairly similar, there are some vast differences between the two titles. For those that love Dungeons & Dragons, both games are a fantastic choice – but DoS2 is definitely one to try with your partner before diving into BG3.

Overcooked

On its surface, Overcooked looks cute and charming. And it is but be prepared for chaos to erupt as you serve food to waiting customers. There are two separate games, the first and a sequel. Both offer countless hours of fun (and stress) for anyone who decides to play.

It Takes Two

Although every game on the list so far can be played solo or in parties of more than two for some titles, It Takes Two is different. A game that can only be played in co-op means that you and your partner will be able to work together for the sole purpose of overcoming the obstacles in your path. With an amazing art style and a story-driven narrative, this game is the best way to enjoy a cozy night on the couch.

Beyond these 10 games or game franchises, there are so many more. Whether you are playing with your significant other or trying to build a relationship, gaming is a great way to connect. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, if you’ve forgotten to buy a gift, maybe one of these titles could keep you in your partner’s good graces – although chocolate works too.
