It’s going to be a long journey.
Death Stranding 2 PC-esque photorealistic visuals have many wondering whether Kojima Productions' latest is coming to the graphically superior platform or not. The studio recently unveiled a stunning 10-minute-long cinematic trailer for DS 2 alongside its much-awaited PS5 release date.
While the new trailer provided glimpses of the game's stunning vistas, laid-back gameplay, and intense cinematic sequences, it didn't mention anything about a PC version.
If you have been curious about the PC version of Death Stranding 2, you're not alone. In this guide, we discuss whether you will be able to play Death Stranding 2 on PC or not.
Will Death Stranding 2 launch on PC??

No, Death Stranding 2 will not launch on PC, at least at the time of this writing. The highly anticipated sequel is currently slated to release only on PS5.
That said, the original Death Stranding was only a timed PlayStation-exclusive title, which means there’s the possibility that DS 2 will be the same.
Since its PS4 launch in 2019, Death Stranding has received numerous re-releases via a director’s cut version on Amazon Luna, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, iOS, iPad, PC, and MacOS. It’s no secret that Kojima Productions is open to bringing its games to as many platforms as possible. As such, Death Stranding 2 should eventually make its way to PC and other platforms.
However, when this PC version of DS 2 will launch is a different conversation altogether.

When will Death Stranding 2 launch on PC?

Death Stranding 2 PC version should launch in early 2026, at least if the original’s PC port is anything to go by. To put things into perspective, DS 1 came out on PS4 in November 2019, whereas its PC version arrived in July 2020.
In 20224, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Hermen Hulst, said during Sony's Business meeting that PlayStation won’t bring its single-player narrative titles to other platforms for at least a year. However, the company’s strategy in this regard seems to have changed since then.
Later that year, the President of Sony, Hiroki Totoki, suggested that PC ports of PlayStation exclusive titles may start releasing sooner rather than later. While Death Stranding 2 isn’t a first-party title, it’s still a prestigious PlayStation single-player game that could follow this revamped release strategy. It’s all speculation on our behalf, so please take this with a grain of salt.
As of this writing, neither PlayStation nor Kojima Productions has suggested the existence of a DS 2 PC version. If and when DS 2 arrives on PC, expect a slew of PC-exclusive features in this version of the game like Ultrawide resolution, DLSS & FSR, unlocked FPS, and more.
Both PC & PS5 players want a Death Stranding 2 PC version

Death Stranding Subreddit is currently plagued with the age-old conflict - should console exclusives be a thing? Interestingly enough, the comments aren’t just black or white this time around.
It seems some PS5 players are willing to wait for the Death Stranding 2 PC version instead of buying the console version.
One Reddit user, KenginstonX, suggests timed exclusives are “stupid” and that they would wait for a PC version of the game even though they own a PS5. The next bit is more intriguing, in which they say, “If it's more than a year wait, I just won't buy it - too many games to care.”
Perhaps this shift in mindset has occurred because people know that Death Stranding 2 will eventually make its way to PC.
It wasn’t the case with the original Death Stranding, as most PS exclusives (first-party or otherwise) back then never launched on other platforms. Or it simply could be what Kenginston X mentioned - There are too many games to play nowadays. In short, the timed-exclusive nature of Death Stranding 2 may or may not work in its favor. It’s too early to comment, as pre-order numbers aren't in yet.
What we do know, however, is that there's a yearning for a PC version of DS 2, so much so that some PS5 players are willing to wait for that.
