You can upgrade weapons and add insert glyphs into them in Hell is Us by rescuing Victor and unlocking the blacksmith in the village of Jova. You can find Victor Gaz, the young apprentice of the blacksmith, stuck within a tunnel in the eastern part of the Acasa Marshes.
Be careful, though, as the area is brimming with Hollow Walkers. Once you have cleared all the enemies, you will hear Victor’s cry for help from a room on the right. Talk to him, and he will give you the key to Vitalis’ home.
Once you have the key, head back to Jova. Vitalis’ house is opposite the blacksmith’s. In case you don’t know where the latter is, head 300 degrees west, and you will notice a dauntingly tall pole with a blacksmith symbol.
Explore Vitalis’ house—there are plenty of mysteries and secrets to unravel here. Once you’re done, head back, and you will see that Victor is back and the blacksmith’s is open. Talk to Victor to upgrade your weapons in Hell is Us, alongside your armor.
Upgrading weapons costs Shards, which come in different shapes and types. Moreover, you will need to attune your weapon with one of the four Lymbic Spheres. These are elemental affinities that grant unique abilities to your current weapon. And that’s pretty much it!
