All ship types in Skull and Bones

The selection be as wide as the sea, me mateys!

Ubisoft’s new pirate adventure game, Skull and Bones, is out now. The game is set in the 17th century’s Golden Age of Piracy and features naval warfare across the Indian Ocean. Whether you’re pressed into service or start a sailor’s life willingly, you’ll be in need of a ship.

Here is your guide on every ship that you can sail in Skull and Bones!

What ships can you sail in Skull and Bones?

Since most of your time in-game will be spent astride a ship, it’s important to pick the best one for you. Here’s every ship that is available at the time of Skull and Bones’ release.

Extra small ships

Dhow: This ship, the only extra small ship in the game in fact, has a single mast. Additionally, the hunter perk gives the ship the ability of preserving animal skin when hunting.

Small ships

Bedar: This ship will be the first one players can craft after the Skull and Bones tutorial. The ship is best for ramming other ships in combat, but doesn't survive those encounters very well. The Bedar has low survivability and a small number of gunports.

Hulk: This small ship is one of the first that players can get. The most important perk for this ship in Skull and Bones is its incredible strength. However, the drawback is that it is incredibly slow, especially when it comes to combat.

Cutter: Of all the small ship types in Skull and Bones, the Cutter is the fastest. It makes for a good support ship during engagements, but is highly likely to sink due to its low HP. The Unburdened perk allows the Cutter to repair severe damage on friendly ships.

Barge: The Barge is a damage dealer, with moderate survivability and a high number of gunports. The perk Wildfire allows Barge type ships to set enemy ships ablaze and spread that fire quickly.

Sloop: Sloops have the same number of gunports as the Barge, with moderate survivability as well, which makes it a solid ship. Additionally, the Sloop has a low profile and a great perk. The Outburst perk gives explosive hits a 50% chance of creating an explosion and increases explosive damage by 15%.

Medium ships

Padewakang: This ship type is all around moderate. It has moderate survivability and a moderate number of gunports. The perk Detonate gives the Padewakang's explosive hits a 70% chance of triggering an explosion, while also increasing damage to structures by 20% and weapon damage radius by 15%.

Snow: The Snow type is all about durability. It has high survivability, a medium number of gunports, and the Tenacity perk. This perk increases brace strength by 50% and brace strength recovery by 150%. Additionally, the Snow recovers its brace strength by 4% per one second while it's bracing.

Brigantine: Of all the ship types, the Brigantine is best for ramming other ships. It has moderate survivability and a moderate amount of gunports. What gives the Brigantine its ramming power is the Bullhorn perk. Bullhorn increases ramming damage by 45% and applies the Flooded effect to enemy ships. It also reduces the Torn Sails effect by 80%.

Sambuk: This ship type is another that specializes in fire damage. The Scorched perk effects nearby enemy ships within 150m with Ablaze, which increases damage by 30% and deals 5000 burning damage. The Sambuk has moderate survivability alongside the most gunports of the medium ships.

And that's it! That's every playable ship type in Skull and Bones. Additional non-playable ships include the Brig, Ghanjah, Corvette, and Frigate.

Hopefully the game will add more ship types in the near future, especially since the "small" and "medium" class sizes seem to imply a future "large".
