Fortnite is a game of many mechanics, from sprinting to mantling and everything in between. The popular title has evolved immensely over the last seven years. Siphon is a mechanic in Fortnite that rewards players who earn eliminations with health or shield. Utilizing it is as simple as completely depleting an opponent's health. Once that's done, you will receive 50 health or shield, depending on your situation. Although it's no longer a guaranteed mechanic, Ranked Mode and tournaments previously featured Siphon as a vital mechanic.

However, in May 2023, Epic Games officially removed Siphon from Fortnite tournaments. That doesn't conclude the story of Siphon, as in Chapter 5, the developers brought it back to the game but with a minor caveat.

Medallions are a relatively new addition to Fortnite, beginning in Chapter 5. Epic Games introduced these new items to incentive eliminating various boss characters around the map. After defeating one of these bosses, they would drop a Medallion that offers a benefit while marking you for the entire lobby to see.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 introduced an "Aspect of Siphon" Medallion, where carriers would enjoy the benefits of Siphon as long as they carried it. The Siphon Medallion sat out Season 3, but it returned in Season 4 with the Doombot's Siphon Medallion. Like the Aspect of Siphon, if you manage to eliminate the Doombot boss character at the Castle Doom point of interest (POI), you can obtain the Siphon Medallion.

From then until the end of the match, you will receive a health or shield increase with each elimination.
