If you are on the lookout for fertilizer, just know you can find it fairly early on in your world. Just locate some animals and you're bound to come across. It's recommended that you pet any animals you come across as the resources they give are much greater than when you outright kill them.

You can scare some animals, such as chickens, with a punch to force some fertilizer out of them. Yes, that means to get fertilizer in LEGO Fortnite, you have to hope an animal leaves some behind. You'll notice it in the form of a fresh pile of poop.

Once you've found an animal like a cow or sheep in LEGO Fortnite, collecting the fertilizer is easy. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Choose to pet or punch the animal
  2. Upon finishing the prior action, the animal may defecate
  3. Approach the poop on the ground and you will see the prompt to collect it
  4. Press the respective button that appears on the prompt and you'll add the fertilizer to your inventory

As you progress through LEGO Fortnite, you will gain the ability to craft a shovel. At that point, fertilizer can be used with soil you dig up with the shovel to create a garden plot so that you can start to grow crops.

Fertilizer can also be obtained from Villagers sent to gather resources. There's a random chance they'll return with fertilizer, with the chance seemingly raised if there are animals in the vicinity.
