Fortnite Jason Haunted Cup: How to compete to get a free skin

Fortnitemares 2025 is well underway, and the scary skins have begun to appear in the Item Shop. One such skin is that of the Crystal Lake native Jason Voorhees—the hockey mask-wearing, machete-wielding slasher. Although the entire bundle drops on Oct. 17, you can participate in Fortnite's Jason Haunted Cup to grab the Outfit itself one day early.

This article outlines everything you need to know about competing in the Haunted Cup and how well you need to perform to unlock the skin early.

The Jason Haunted Cup is a Duos Reload Fortnite tournament open to most competitors who meet the minimal eligibility requirements. As usual, this tournament will occur across two and a half hours, during which you can compete in up to ten matches.

Your partner's and your goal is to earn as many points as possible based on placement and eliminations. That means the higher your place and the more eliminations you manage, the higher your score overall. The tournament takes place across all seven competitive Fortnite regions beginning on Thursday, Oct. 16.

One question on the minds of more casual players might be whether it's even worth trying to win the Jason skin. The reality of these types of tournaments is that, although more casual, there are still talented and professional players who participate.

As a result, the likelihood of someone who only plays Fortnite occasionally placing high enough in a tournament is low. However, there is always a chance if you use an innovative strategy that suits your skill level. It's also solid experience for future competitive events.

The prize distribution for the Haunted Cup depends on the player count per region. As usual, Europe will receive the most skins, with the top 850 duos securing the Outfit.

That number decreases with the smaller regions. However, all who participate and earn at least eight points will receive the TGIF Emoticon, as pictured above.
