The Inquisitor is an older Trials shotgun but it’s getting a perk refresh in Destiny 2’s May 2025 update.
Arc slug shotguns once were the shining light of Destiny 2 but as time as gone by, they've fallen out of favor as engagements happen over longer distances. This isn't the case in PvP, however, with The Inquisitor and its god roll a must-have for PvP savants wanting to blow the heads off their opponents.
Here's our god roll for The Inquisitor in Destiny 2 with the best perks available on this slug shotgun.
What is The Inquisitor god roll in Destiny 2?
The Inquisitor PvE god roll
Column | Perk(s) |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Extended Mag |
Trait 1 | Envious Assassin |
Trait 2 | Bait and Switch Cascade Point |
Origin Trait, Masterwork, Weapon Mod | Alacrity (Origin Trait) Range (Masterwork) Backup Mag (Weapon Mod) |
Slug shotguns have fallen a little out of favor these days in PvE, but there's still a roll or two on The Inquisitor worth picking up.
Envious Assassin allows us to overflow the magazine as we rack up kills with other weapons. I'm liking the look of Bait and Switch in column two if you want to make this a boss-killing weapon.
If majors or champion-killing is more your vibe, Cascade Point for a burst of damage up close is the way to go — as long as you can activate Cascade Point by landing kills or headshots with other weapons first.

The Inquisitor was built to shine in PvP modes. This slug shotgun comes with a bevy of top perks, with our first pick in column one Lone Wolf. Additional accuracy, ADS, and handling is granted when rolling solo or away from the fireteam, ensuring your first shot lands where it needs.
To ensure that first shot finds its mark, we're taking Opening Shot in column two. Not only do we get accuracy but also a heap of range with The Inquisitor with our one shot. Most of the time we'll only have one bullet as we spawn in with one shot.
Closing Time is also viable here, as its benefits to range and handling come when the magazine is low (which it almost always is!). If you're finding you're landing shots with ease without Opening Shot, Closing Time will be more consistent of a perk for you.
