Is Destiny 2 down? Are Destiny 2 servers not available? How to check Destiny 2 server status? We answer all of these queries and more in this article.

Like most multiplayer games, Destiny 2 servers go down for maintenance weekly before major updates — and sometimes unexpectedly. When that happens, you won’t be able to log in to the game for a few hours.

If you’re here, it means the game’s servers are probably down or your internet is acting up. Either way, here’s how you can check Destiny 2 server status.

How to check if the Destiny 2 servers are down

Updated April 1, 2025: The Destiny 2 servers are not down. The game and all its application programming interfaces (APIs) seem to be functioning. You could check the Bungie website or the developer's X account for ongoing or upcoming maintenance updates.

When is the next Destiny 2 maintenance update?

There is no Destiny 2 server maintenance planned for this week. We will update this section if and when Destiny 2 servers go down in case of emergency maintenance.

The next scheduled maintenance should take place at the weekly reset on April 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. PDT or 1 p.m. EDT. It should conclude at 2 p.m. PDT or 5 p.m. EDT on the same day. All of the game services will be impacted during this period.

Once the update is over, check Destiny 2 for any patches or updates. If you see any error codes like Chicken or Tapir, it’s best to wait a few minutes for the servers to become stable and restart the game.

The last Destiny 2 update 8.2.5.3 went live on April 1, 2025, ahead of the launch of Episode Heresy Act 3. The scheduled maintenance began at 6 a.m. PDT or 9 a.m. EDT and concluded at 10 a.m. PDT or 6 p.m. EDT.
