A Gryphon is a sparrow with teeth, and it can all be yours by playing a Destiny 2 event.
It's not every day Destiny 2's guardians get a new vehicle to ride around it. First it was the sparrow, then the skimmer, but a new PvP event in Destiny grants a new vehicle type: the Gryphon.
But don't worry — you won't need to play normal PvP modes to earn the Gryphon. Here's how you can get your hands on the newest Destiny 2 vehicle type!
How to get a Gryphon in Destiny 2
The Gryphon is available by playing the special Heavy Metal PvP event in Destiny 2. You need to reach Rank 15 in the Heavy Metal event to unlock the Gryphon.
Playing matches and completing daily and weekly challenges levels up your event pass. Once you hit rank 15, claim the Gryphon and it's yours to keep! You'll have until Friday, May 16 to earn your Gryphon. Don't fret if you can't make it: Heavy Metal will return again, allowing players to play again.

What does the Gryphon do in Destiny 2?
The Gryphon works just like a guardian's Sparrow in Destiny 2, but has a major benefit — it's weaponized.
Destiny 2 players have been begging for sparrows that have weapons for ages. While many were happy with the hoverboard-like Skimmer we got during Guardian Games, it didn't have guns and missiles like the Gryphon.
Gryphons come with standard and secondary weapons, with the secondary weapon using the same damage type (Arc, Solar, Void, Strand, or Stasis) as the guardian's subclass. You can customize your Gryphon with a shader of your choosing, too!
The Gryphon is the only one of its type in Destiny 2 right now. That said, we've seen more skimmers arrive after the launch of Guardian Games, so it's likely we'll see Gryphons become a regular in the Eververse shop or on future seasonal passes.
