Drop into Destiny 2’s Rite of the Nine this April.

Destiny 2's final Episode, Heresy, will end with a bang this April with Bungie announcing a new dungeon-based activity called Rite of the Nine.

The mysterious Nine have called upon you once more for a task: to re-enter challenging activities of old and uncover the secrets within. This dungeon-based activity will run over a few weeks and has plenty in the way of loot to earn.

Here's what we know about Rite of the Nine in Destiny 2.

Rite of the Nine is a free, limited-time game mode coming to Destiny 2 with Episode: Heresy Act 3. Three of the game's existing dungeons — Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghosts of the Deep — will be enhanced with several difficulty modifiers. Each will rotate in on a weekly basis.

Similar to the Heresy activity The Nether, these older dungeons have been partially reprised with multiple modes. Explorer Mode is designed for casual players who haven't yet tried the dungeon before and acts as a great way to learn the mechanics of each puzzle, with waypoints and tooltips helping you along.

Eternity mode sees the difficulty ramped up a little, while Ultimatum mode provides "new stuff at the top end" for hardcore endgame guardians. Ultimatum mode will be at "Contest mode" level with additional modifiers, making the dungeons that much tougher.

Fireteams will score points per encounter, with deaths (or lack of) getting you the most points. The more points you accrue, the better the loot!

"This event will be offer something for lower-skill folks" say developers

"This event is going to offer something for lower-skill folks who want to start getting into some endgame content, and it's going to offer some things of higher difficulty," Bungie developers said during the March 4 Heresy Act 2 livestream.

Guardians will enter a "new" social space known as The Third Spire. We last saw this space way back with Trials of the Nine. The Emissary will greet you, offering quests, bounties, rewards, and more focused on each weekly dungeon.

You'll also be able to attune to a particular weapon from the dungeon. Four of the weapons in each dungeon have been revamped with new perks and traits to hunt.

Rite of the Nine will arrive with Episode: Heresy's Act 3, which launches on April 1. From there, the weekly dungeon will rotate at reset every Tuesday.

Outside of Adept weapons, guardians will have several rewards to chase. Five (yes, five!) emblems and a title commemorating the Rite of the Nine activity can be yours — if you're game enough.

That's all for now! We'll update this piece with more information as we get it, but in the meantime, check out more Destiny 2 news and guides at esports.gg.
