New exotics await in Destiny 2 Edge of Fate.

The Destiny 2 Edge of Fate expansion adds three new exotic armors, one for each class. These should synergize well with new artifact perks and open up exciting buildcrafting potential in the year of Fate.

Unlike The Final Shape, Destiny 2’s Edge of Fate expansion kicks off a new saga in the game with a lot of under-the-hood changes, such as the Armor 3.0 rework and powered melee overhauls. While these may appeal to more dedicated, hardcore players, new exotic gear is exciting for everyone.

With that in mind, here are all the new exotic armor pieces coming in Destiny 2: Edge of Fate, and which one you should look out for the most.

Melas Panoplia (Titan Gauntlets) exotic armor in Edge of Fate

Origin Trait (Forgemaster): Collecting a Firesprite or rapid Solar final blows makes you a Forge Master, allowing you to recall your Throwing Hammer. After impacting a target, recall your hammer at full intensity to perform a Perfect Recall, causing an explosion of forge slag. Perfect Recalls and collecting Firesprites extend your time as a Forge Master.

In theory, Melas Panoplia is the most exciting exotic among the three, as it lets you recall your Throwing Hammer. It essentially makes it Thor’s Hammer (or Kratos’ Leviathan Axe from God of War), which should add a new power fantasy to all hammer builds. Furthermore, recalling it also causes a mini-explosion.

In reality, however, the explosion may not cause much difference in the overall damage output. Moreover, throwing and recalling the hammer accurately might be challenging in intense situations, which may lead to unnecessary frustration.

Eunoia (Warlock Gauntlets) exotic armor in Edge of Fate

Origin Trait (Consul’s Pitch): Hellion’s projectiles deal increased damage the further they travel, eventually fracturing into scorching shrapnel.

Of all the new exotics, Eunoia is arguably the most straightforward and least exciting one. It boosts the damage of the already powerful Hellion’s aspect. Unless you plan on running a strict Eunoia Warlock build, this wouldn't add much value to it. Moreover, you can get a similar power fantasy by utilizing the Radiant Shrapnel artifact perk.

Moirai (Hunter Chest) exotic armor in Edge of Fate

Origin Trait (Webcatcher): Threaded Spike can bounce to Tangles, detonating them and returning immediately. Tangles detonated by Threaded Spike are rewoven and retrieved by it. Catches without a Tangle refund extra melee energy.

Moirai should make Strand Hunter builds more fun and exciting to play. Instead of throwing your Threaded Spike on enemies, now you can throw it on Tangles to cause explosions. Thankfully, with the Threaded Blast artifact perk, Tangles can now cause bigger explosions.

Here’s the fun bit: If you equip the Whirling Malestorm Aspect, throwing Threaded Spike on Tangles will also unleash Strand Fibres that seek out and damage enemies. Also, since Threaded Spike returns immediately with Moirai, you can have multiple Strand Fibres active on the battlefield. All of this makes Moirai a compelling new exotic for any Strand Hunter builds.
