Whta’s the best pistol to use, and when should you use it?
While pistols are nowhere near the best weapons in Counter Strike 2, you'll often need to rely on them more than a majority of the other guns you can purchase. Whether you're low on money and need an eco round to save up or you're just starting on a new side, pistols are the go-to weapons for many players. However, with there being several options to pick from on the buy menu, what's the best pistol to choose in CS2?
To answer that question, we'll need to look at a couple of different factors. One of the factors is what side you're currently on, and the other is how much money you're willing to spend on the pistol. Finally, we, of course, have to take a look at what pistols are the most effective across the board so you can still put up a fight against an enemy with a better gun.
Below, you can find out what's the best overall pistol to use in CS2.
Best all-around Pistol in CS2

For starters, let's go with the pistol that you want to use if you're simply looking for the best option available. This pistol certainly isn't the one you need to buy on eco rounds or at the start of a match, but it's one that offers the most damage and effectiveness regardless of the situation.
Overall, the Desert Eagle is technically the best pistol in CS2 in terms of sheer damage and potential. The Desert Eagle is a one-shot kill to the head and features the best damage in its class.
However, the Desert Eagle also possesses some of the worst recoil in CS2, which is why many players refrain from using it in-game unless they're highly skilled with it. Something else going against the "Deagle" is its price, which comes in at $700. This is far more than you want to spend, especially during an eco round.
Of course, if you can make the Desert Eagle work to your advantage over something at a similar price, then it might be worth pulling out during some of your moderate eco rounds.

Now, let's get into more specifics when choosing your pistol. Since the side you're on dictates what pistols you have access to, it's important to distinguish the different sides as it relates to the best pistol to use in CS2.
When you're playing as the Terrorists, the most popular pick by far is the Glock-18. We ranked this pistol in the B tier of our CS2 weapons tier list, which is actually pretty high for a pistol. The Glock-18 is a solid, all-around pistol in CS2.
It has great damage, controllable recoil, and a moderately fast fire rate that allows you to get shots off quickly. The Glock also has a large magazine size, allowing you to run and gun with it without having to worry about reloading constantly. This helps in case you miss some shots as well.
The Glock-18 can one-shot to the head at most ranges and is about as reliable as any other pistol you can buy. It doesn't cost much, and it's the pistol you'll see the most when playing as or against the Terrorists in CS2.
An alternative option on the T-side is the Tec-9, which is another strong pistol that takes a little more skill to use.
Best CT-side Pistol in CS2

Swapping to the other side of the map, let's go over what the best Counter Terrorist pistol to use is. Compared to the Terrorists, the CT side has noticeably worse options when it comes to the pistol selection. As a result, many players simply use the default pistol and instead spend some money on armor or utility for their starting or eco rounds.
If you want to go this route, it's highly recommended to swap the default P2000 pistol out with the USP-S. The USP is a silenced weapon, so your shots won't be heard nearly as loudly, and it has slightly better handling than the P2000. Like most other pistols, the USP-S can one-shot kill enemies to the head, and it has a decently fast fire rate so you can continue to aim for the head quickly, even if you miss a few initial shots.
However, if you were to buy a pistol on the CT side, you want to go with the Five Seven. The Five Seven is another reliable pistol that features a high fire rate and great accuracy. Of course, it's not silenced, so your shots will be heard if you fire at an enemy.
