If you see a star icon on a player in College Football 25, that means that player has a development trait. These traits influence a player's ability to scale in the game, making some players very coveted in modes like Dynasty. So, here are all of the traits and what you need to know about each one of them.
College Football 25 development traits explained
In College Football 25, there are three different tiers of development traits that only select players have. These make players better at improved rates, with varying levels of rarity. So, if you have one of these players and they are not a senior, expect them to gain significant stats when going through offseason training.
Below are the three key development traits, followed by a gallery of players in CFB 25 who possess each one, courtesy of esports.gg. There is also Normal, but it does not affect growth at all.
- Impact (most common) - Jason Marshall Jr.
- Star - Xavier Carlton
- Elite (most rare) - Travis Hunter

How do I know if a player has a development trait in CFB 25?
You'll know if a player has one of these traits if they have a star icon on their player card. You can also see this when you are looking at your entire roster or depth chart on the right-hand side of the screen. You can see this below when looking at Jalen Milroe on the Player Management screen.
