If you want to give a player a year to develop, while providing an extra year of eligibility, redshirt them in College Football 25.

College Football 25 brings a lot of realism, including the ability to redshirt a player. You can earn redshirt status in Road to Glory or you can apply it to a player in Dynasty if you so choose.

We'll go over both modes and how it works.

What is a redshirt?

Redshirting is a strategic move that coaches make in collegiate football. If a player receives a redshirt designation, they are still a part of the team with the ability to practice, but they do not play in actual games for the year they receive the redshirt.

This is most often done with freshman players, as it gives them an entire year to watch how the team operates and to develop their own skills. After the redshirt year, they still retain their four years of eligibility, which means they may finish their schooling at some point, but still be a member of the football team.

How to apply a redshirt to a player in College Football 25

Applying a redshirt to a player in College Football 25 works differently depending on the mode you play. Let's look at the two modes where it is possible and how to make it happen.

Unfortunately it is not up to you in Road to Glory. It is completely up to the computer-ran coaches you play for if you redshirt in College Football 25.

If you do not feature in at least four games during your freshman season in RTG, you are eligible to redshirt. At the end of the season, the game will apply it to you for another season of eligibility if the AI deems it necessary.

Dynasty

In College Football 25's Dynasty mode, you can select which players you want to redshirt. At the main section of Dynasty, navigate to the Team menu. You'll see the Redshirts option.

Locate the player you'd like to apply the redshirt to and simply press the X (PS5) or A (Xbox) button. The (RS) will appear next to their name now indicating they have a redshirt for that season.
