The HDR sniper rifle is coming back in Season 3, but how do you unlock it?

Not only is Season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone bringing back the fan-favorite map Verdansk, but it's also introducing several classic weapons from the original Verdansk meta. One of these new weapons coming to Warzone and Black Ops 6 with the update is the HDR sniper rifle. This sniper was the first long-range threat in Warzone history, instilling fear in any player when they saw its infamous glint from across the map.

Starting with Season 3, players can unlock the HDR through a couple of different methods. However, the time when you can unlock the HDR in Warzone and Black Ops 6 is different depending on the game you're playing. Below, you can learn exactly how to unlock the HDR when Season 3 drops.

Unlocking the HDR in Warzone and Black Ops 6

Let's get the basics out of the way. The HDR is unlocked through the Season 3 Battle Pass in both Warzone and Black Ops 6. While this sounds obvious, half of the Season 3 weapons aren't on the Battle Pass.

More specifically, the HDR is on Page 3 of the Battle Pass, and it's the HVT tier reward, meaning it's the final tier of content you unlock on Page 3. You have to unlock all of the other tiers on Page before you're able to earn the HDR. The order in which you unlock the smaller tiers doesn't matter, but you have to unlock all of them before the HDR becomes available.

In addition to being on Page 3, there's an HDR weapon blueprint on Page 11. Of course, as long as you have the base version of the HDR, the blueprint doesn't matter much unless you want to change up the aesthetic of the sniper.

To easily reach Page 3 of the Season 3 Battle Pass, you can purchase the BlackCell version of the pass. This costs $30, but it comes with 25 free tier skips. This will allow you to reach Page 3 immediately, giving you access to the HDR without even playing a game.

If you don't want to spend money on BlackCell, you can also purchase an HDR store bundle. There's no word on how much the bundle will cost or what it will feature, but the bundle should be present in the store as soon as Season 3 drops.

For Black Ops 6 players, you can unlock the HDR using any one of these methods straight away on April 2. However, if you're solely planning on playing Warzone, then you have to wait until April 3. Warzone is going offline all day on April 2 in preparation for Verdansk's arrival, and it won't come back online until 9 a.m. PT on April 3. This means you have to wait an extra day before being able to play Season 3 and unlock the HDR.
