The newest melee weapon is lethal, but its unlock method is peculiar in Black Ops 6.
Three new weapons are coming with the Season 1 Reloaded update in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Two of these are primary weapons, the Maelstrom shotgun and AMR Mod 4 sniper rifle, while the last one is a melee weapon, the Cleaver. We know of the unlock methods for the Maelstrom and AMR Mod 4, but what about the Cleaver in Black Ops 6?
The Cleaver is a one-shot kill melee weapon in multiplayer, which is a nice change of pace from the Baseball Bat. Activision describes the Cleaver as having medium attack speed, so it should be fairly useful on smaller maps such as Stakeout and Nuketown. However, before you get to use the Cleaver in Black Ops 6, you'll need to unlock it.

In the recent Season 1 Reloaded blog post, Activision went over how to unlock all of the new weapons. All three are unlocked through an event, with the Maelstrom being unlocked first through Merry Mayhem and the AMR Mod 4 following in Archie's Festival Frenzy. Unfortunately, for the Cleaver, all we know is that it will be unlocked through an event as well.
There is no mention of what event or how it will be unlocked through the event. It seems unlikely the Cleaver will be a part of the first two holiday events in Season 1 Reloaded, as those are occupied by the other two weapons. That just leaves the potential Squid Games event in Black Ops 6 for the Cleaver. \
Squid Games, the popular Netflix show, is collaborating with Call of Duty for a crossover in Season 1 sometime in January. The start date is redacted in the blog post, but Archie's Festival Frenzy ends on Jan. 3, so the Squid Games event will likely begin following its conclusion. We know little about the Squid Games event other than it will introduce limited-time modes in Black Ops 6 along with exclusive cosmetics from the show.
In all likelihood, the Squid Games event will feature the Cleaver as the main unlock prize. However, we don't know how the event will work, so it's impossible to say exactly how the Cleaver will be unlocked.
