Carve up some zombies with a friend.
Split-screen has been a feature in Call of Duty since the game was brought to consoles way back in the mid-2000s. While the games in the franchise have certainly evolved since then, the split-screen feature has been mostly left the same way. Black Ops 6 100% supports split-screen functionality, even in the Zombies mode, but it takes some special steps to get it working.
So if you're looking to play Black Ops 6 Zombies with a friend using the same system, you've come to the right place. We'll explain the entire process of setting up split-screen play in the guide below.

Before we begin, the split-screen feature is only available on current-gen consoles in Black Ops 6. Last-gen and PC players have no way to play locally with another player on the same system. Also, split-screen play requires you to be fully online and connected to the Internet. You can't play offline and still access the split-screen feature.
Another note to remember with split-screen is it requires both players to use separate system and Activision accounts. This means you need to make a different account on your console and a different Activision account for the second account that will be playing in split-screen.
With the second account, you'll have to link it to a new or existing Activision account by going onto Activision's website and going to the "Connections" tab in the profile section of the account.
Finally, you are able to use split-screen in both Black Ops 6 multiplayer and Zombies. However, the Campaign mode does not support split-screen in any way.
With those caveats out of the way, here are the steps to get split-screen working in Zombies:
- Launch Black Ops 6 on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and go to the Zombies main menu
- In the lobby, plug in a second controller to your system
- On the controller, press X on PS5 and A on Xbox
- This triggers the split-screen feature and brings up a prompt to log in to a second account
- Log in using a different account on your console and ensure this account is linked to a separate Activision account
- Once the second account is fully logged in, they will be able to play in split-screen with your system's main account
- You can now load up a Zombies match in Black Ops 6 and your screen will be split right down the middle, with one side being dedicated to one player and the other to the second player
Black Ops 6 Zombies in split-screen removes quite a bit of features, unfortunately. You can't create custom loadouts with the second account, so they'll spawn in with the exact same loadout as the primary player. However, split-screen does work as intended, allowing you to play locally with a second player on the same console.
