Crossplay can be disabled with the switch of a button in BO6.
While Black Ops 6 has featured the ability to disable crossplay since launch, that has not been the case in Ranked Play. When Ranked launched in December, console players were not able to turn crossplay off, leaving them susceptible to the thousands of hackers on PC. Activision kept this controversial decision in place for over a month, much to the ire of the PS5 and Xbox communities.
Luckily, Black Ops 6 is seeing a revert to the decision, and console players will be able to disable crossplay in Ranked starting with Season 2. In the guide below, you can see exactly how to do that.
How to disable crossplay in Black Ops 6
Following the Season 2 update in Black Ops 6, you'll be able to disable crossplay in Ranked. However, the process to disable the feature remains the same as if you were turning it off for a public match. You can see how to disable the feature below:
- Launch Black Ops 6 and go to the main menu
- Select the six dots icon in the top-right of the screen
- Choose Settings and navigate to the "Account and Network" tab
- Find the crossplay option and disable it

Why is crossplay bad in Black Ops 6?
Crossplay has been one of the most celebrated features in the modern gaming industry. The ability to play with a friend or other players regardless of what system they're playing on has done wonders for dozens of communities.
However, the introduction of crossplay in Call of Duty specifically has brought on plenty of other issues, namely shining a light on cheating. Currently, Black Ops 6 is plagued by a cheating problem, and if you're on console, the main reason why you run into hackers is because you're matching with PC players.
While cheaters exist on PS5 and Xbox, they're far more common on PC. Dozens of cheat makers make a living selling hacks to PC players, who only have to pay and download a program to access wallhacks, aimbot, and a plethora of other cheats.
So if you have to turn crossplay on to play with a friend on PC, you'll likely see way more cheaters than if you disable crossplay on console.
