Is there romance in the air?
Avowed gives you the chance to recruit four companions to your traveling party. You obtain the four companions at different parts during the story and they can all play a role in some way throughout the game.
Every companion has unique dialogue if you talk to them at a party camp and they can chime in during regular dialogue as well. However, many players have wondered if you can romance your companions in Avowed to add another layer of depth to the game.
Below, we'll answer that burning question so you can know for sure if you're wasting your time with Yatzli in Avowed.

Are you able to romance companions in Avowed?
Even though it really seems like you have some chemistry with companions at times, you are unable to romance any companion in Avowed. No matter how much time you put in speaking to them at camp or after their companion quests have been completed, no one in your party will want to take things to the next level with your character.
This has been the direction Obsidian Entertainment has always gone with its RPGs. Fallout: New Vegas doesn't feature any romance options nor does The Outer Worlds. We can also presume the upcoming The Outer Worlds 2 will follow the same trend as well.
Many fans were disappointed in the non-romance options in The Outer Worlds and those fans are equally, if not more disappointed that the same decision has been made with Avowed.
While there are romantic aspects in Avowed, such as Yatzli's relationship with Quilicci, your character won't see any action on that front throughout the entire game. The only intimacy you can have in Avowed is with the strange voice inside your head, and that voice is not overly pleasant to be around.
If you're holding out hope for some DLC that adds romance options in Avowed, prepare to be disappointed, as that's likely not something the developers are planning.
Perhaps a mod could eventually be designed to add some form of romance in the Living Lands, but even that seems like a long shot. The Outer Worlds has been out for over five years and there's still no romance mod for that Obsidian RPG.
