Moments into your journey in Avowed, you come across a locked room called the Fort Northreach Storage Room. The only way you can open this room is with a specific key, which, of course, the game doesn't give the location of in any way. Fortunately, the Fort Northreach Storage Room Key isn't too far away from its lock in Avowed.

Fort Northreach Storage Room Key location in Avowed
When you see the Fort Northreach Storage Room, you'll be in an enclosed space. Don't worry about the key when you first get to the room, as it's not close by just yet. Instead, keep following your quest markers on the map until you reach a more open space in the castle ruins.
After a few minutes, you should be in this open space that has a few different rooms you can venture into. There will also be a large tree in the center of the room with a dead Aedyran Solider leaning up against it. If you search the dead soldier's body, you'll find the Fort Northreach Storage Key. Head back to the storage room, use the key to open it, and head on inside.
The storage room doesn't contain too many goodies, but there is a chest on the floor that you can loot for a Common Breastplate, which is certainly an upgrade over the basic clothing you currently have equipped.
In addition to the chest, you can also climb up on some boxes in the room and reach a Health Potion and gold on one of the upper shelves above the chest.
Unfortunately, the storage room doesn't have any other items in it, but the armor, potion, and gold are certainly good to have when you're just starting out in Avowed.
