Avowed: How to drop items from your inventory

If you want to reduce your carrying load, drop some gear from your inventory.

Across a single playthrough in Avowed, you'll pick up hundreds and hundreds of different pieces of loot. From common weapons to unique gear to random crafting materials, your inventory is sure to be chock-full of items right from the very start of the game. While you want to accumulate a solid wealth of items in the early game of Avowed, your carrying capacity might force you to drop some items from your inventory.

However, if you look at your inventory screen, there is seemingly no way to drop anything that you've acquired. This can make for a dire situation, as going over your carrying capacity severely limits what you can do in Avowed. To make sure that never happens to you in the Living Lands, read our guide below on how to discard items from your inventory.

Drop items from the inventory in Avowed

Unfortunately, there is no way to drop anything from your inventory in Avowed. You can't take an item, drop it on the ground, and then go on your merry way. The only options you have with some items are to equip them or transmogify them, with seemingly no other options available.

While that is the case with some items, such as crafting materials or food, the main reason behind that is those items don't have any weight associated with them. This means they're not affecting your carrying capacity so you don't have a real need to drop them from your inventory.

However, items such as weapons and armor do have a weight associated with them. Bigger pieces of armor or a two-handed melee weapon, for example, take up a huge amount of your carrying capacity. If you're not using those gear pieces, you ideally want to get rid of them so you can free up your carrying capacity for items you actually need.

Still, though, there is no way to drop gear from your inventory. The only options you have is to either stash the items in camp or break them down. By hovering over an item, you can look at the bottom-right corner of the inventory screen to see the option to "Stash in Camp" or "Break Down." This option has a button next to it, which you can press the stash the item or hold it to break it down.

Stashing an item in camp means you're sending it to a chest at your camp. This is the ideal scenario for heavier gear pieces you might want to use later in Avowed, but don't need at the current time.

Breaking an item down deletes it permanently, but rewards you with crafting materials in exchange. The higher the rarity an item is, the better crafting materials you receive for breaking it down. Not all gear pieces can be broken down, however. Some items won't have the option to break them down, meaning your only choice to remove them from the inventory is to stash them at camp.

Those are your only options when it comes to getting rid of inventory items in Avowed. It's a strange system the developers have implemented, but at least you can't accidentally drop something you really need.
