Improve performance by enabling DLSS.

Can’t find the option to enable DLSS in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? You’re not alone. AC Shadows is the most visually stunning AC game since 2014’s Unity. However, much of that fidelity comes at a cost.

The PC version of the game isn’t optimized well, and even some of the most powerful GPUs are struggling to maintain 60 FPS at all times. Frame Generation does improve some of the issues, but AC Shadows also seems to have problems with DLSS frame generation.

As such, in this guide, we explain how to enable DLSS in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

If you don’t see the option to enable DLSS frame generation in AC Shadows, make sure to update your Nvidia driver first.

Download the latest version of the driver and restart AC Shadows. You should be able to see the DLSS option in the game now.

Unfortunately, some players have reported that after the AC Shadows day one patch, simply updating the Nvidia driver isn’t enough for the DLSS option to appear.

One Reddit user, Albireookami, suggests restarting your PC to make the DLSS frame generation option appear. Please note that this isn’t a sure shot fix to this problem, and Ubisoft should address this in a future patch.

While AC Shadows has native support for DLSS 3, you can bump it to DLSS 4 to further optimize your game performance.

You can enable DLSS 4 in Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the Nvidia app. It allows you to tweak both Multi-Frame Generation and Super Resolution.

Below are the steps to enable DLSS 4 in Assassin’s Creed Shadows:

  1. Select AC Shadows from the Graphics tab in the Nvidia app.
  2. Look for the DLSS Override - Models Preset option in the Driver setting and click on it.
  3. Select the ‘Use same settings for all DLSS technologies and click on the ‘latest’ option.
  4. Alternatively, you can use select the latest option individually for frame generation, ray reconstruction, and super resolution.

And that’s pretty much it! You have enabled DLSS 4 in AC Shadows.

Please note that there is no other way to enable DLSS 4 in the game right now, though this could change with future updates.
