What are Marksman Weapons in Apex Legends

Marksmen Weapons in Apex Legends bridge the gap between the long range snipers and the mid range assault rifles.

Marksman Weapons in Apex Legends are the ultimate mid to long range weapons. Combining the long range damage of snipers with the mobility and fire rate of Assault Rifle Class weapons. There are currently four different Marksman weapons, and each is entirely unique in their usage. Let's break them down.

What are Marskman Weapons

Marksman Weapons in Apex Legends are the newest class of weapons in Apex Legends, released back in Season 9. Marksmen weapons were created to be the in-between of Assault Rifles and Snipers. The intense damage of Sniper class weapons with the mobility of Assault Rifles.

Each Marksman weapon has a unique ammo type, and all make great secondary weapons paired with a close ranged weapon. There are currently four Marksman weapons in Apex Legends, with three of them ground loot:

  • G7 Scout
  • Triple Take
  • 30-30 Repeater (Craftable)
  • Bocek (Care Package)

Marksman Weapons in Apex Legends

The G7 Scout, the Light Marksman Weapon

The G7 Scout is a day one weapon of Apex Legends alongside the Triple Take. Although it's gone through a couple different iterations throughout the years, it's still regarded as one of the best weapons to poke enemies from long range with.

The G7 is the fastest firing Marksman weapon in the class. Dealing 32 damage to the body and 56 damage to the head on a pretty fast fire rate from long distances make it a great choice.

Pros and Cons of the G7 Scout:

Pros:

  • Fast Firing
  • High Damage

Cons:

The Triple Take, the Shotgun Marksman Weapon

The Triple take is the other OG from the early days of Apex Legends. However, unlike the G7, the Triple Take is actually just a energy ammo shotgun in disguise. Because the Triple take fires three projectiles when it fires, it's been deemed jokingly as a poor man's shotgun. On top of that, the Triple Take also has a built in Choke, meaning you can somewhat control the spread of the pellets. Each pellet does 21 damage to the body and 37 to the head, meaning a full spread hitting can lead to massive damage.

Pros and Cons of the Triple Take:

Pros:

  • Little to no bullet drop
  • Fires three pellets

Cons:

  • Tricky to land the full three pellet spread

The 30-30 Repeater, the Heavy Hitter

The most popular of the Marksman weapons currently in Apex Legends is the 30-30 Repeater. The Skullpiercer Hop-up bumps the headshot damage of the 30-30 to a whopping 120 damage. That damage is on par, and even out classes some Sniper Class weapons.

So, if you can find a weapon that does the same amount of damage as Sniper Rifles with added mobility, why wouldn't you use it? Even without the Hop-up, the 30-30 still provides the most damage out of the ground loot Marksman weapons which makes it the most popular choice.

Pros and Cons of the 30-30 Repeater:

Pros:

  • Highest damage potential
  • Easy to use and to find ammo

Cons:

  • Needs Skullpiercer to reach max potential

The Bocek Compound Bow

Last but certainly not least is a weapon that we all seem to forget about: the Bocek Compound Bow. The Care Package exclusive weapon was released back in Season 9 and made quite the splash on release. Like most newly introduced weapons, the Bow was overpowered.

So much so that seven days after it's release the Bow got nerfed. And it hasn't received any major changes since. It was built for the Care Package and will remain there for good reason. However, if you do come across the Bow in the Care Package, its a great find for a different type of playstyle.

Pros and Cons of the Bocek Compound Bow:

Pros:

  • High damage
  • Silent

Cons:

  • Care package exclusive

Conclusion on Marksman weapons

Apex Marksman weapons have come a long way since their introduction. The class of mid to long range weapons have become fan favorites and a great secondary weapon. The combination of their range and damage make them a great partner for any close range weapon. However, at the end of the day, any weapon choice comes down to preference over stats.
