Fret not, we have you covered in your Nessie search.
With the launch of Apex Legends Season 17 came a brand new firing range. Inside that firing range is an exciting Easter egg hunt for ten green Nessies, as well as a gold, pink, two blue Nessies, and a yellow polka dot Nessie. There's even a Balloon Nessie! Below are each of their locations along with handy screenshots.
Additionial Nessies were added with the launch of Season 18, and some have still yet to be found. In keeping with tradition, there is a new shade of blue Nessie that is still missing. This is, of course, different from the original blue Nessie that came out with the original batch in S17.
Nessie #1
As soon as you enter the firing range, the first Nessie is sitting next to the guns. He's waiting to greet you! But he's also sitting next to the throwing knife, so be careful, he could have anything up his sleeve.
Nessie #2
The second Nessie found by esports.gg staff was the little guy waiting next to the seat on the second level of the Belfry Tower. Seems like he was doing something with all those bullets... probably nothing. Probably...
Nessie #3
This Nessie is a little rascal because he's sitting out of bounds! Number three sits on the top of a ledge on the far right corner of the range, just out of bounds. It's a risk to get a glimpse, but it's definitely worth it.
Nessie #4
Number four is an explorer because he's sitting on the very top of the mountain. Also, he brought a friend! It's a little doggy that keeps him company as they both take in the sights.
Nessie #5
Seated politely on his ship, Nessie number five is ready for a vacation. He's sitting on one of the seats on the right side of the dropship parked near the middle back of the firing range.
Nessie #6
The sixth Nessie on the firing range is pretty hard to spot. Placed about halfway up a pine tree, the green of the Nessie blends in fairly well with the branches. If you want to get to this one, I recommend using Revenant for his extended climb passive. Sort of seems like Nessie is getting ready to ambush someone, maybe an unsuspecting Wattson walking by?
Nessie #7
On the island all the way in the back of the firing range, this Nessie is hiding among some trash bags. Specifically, Nessie sits on the back of the island down on one of the small cliffs. Not really sure why he's hiding by the trash, but maybe it's worth it for the view.
Nessie #8
This Nessie is particularly special because he's lined up with a few small Wattson plushies. They're all huddled underneath a small ledge behind the one v one pit.
Nessie #9
Despite being technically closest to spawn, it took an embarrassingly long time to find this Nessie. He is sitting in the left spawn room near the exit on the right. It's a little dark in the spawn rooms so he can be hard to spot, but it's possible this Nessie wants a little nap and found a dark spot.
Nessie #10
Number ten was frustrating to find because of his green coloring. Nessie is snuggled up next to some boxes and a small yellow tube under the back stairs of the center building.
Special Nessies
There are multiple special Nessies that can be found in the firing range. Even though we obviously know all Nessies are very special, these Nessies are each a unique color, though there are two shades of blue Nessie. Additionally, what's special about these Nessies is that you have to complete objectives in the firing range to unlock them. There is one pink, two blue, and one gold Nessie that can be found on the firing range. So far, only pink, gold, and one blue have been found.
Pink Nessie
The pink Nessie can be found on the very edge of the zipline rail on the Belfry tower after you have gotten 100 kills. This can be achieved quickly by grabbing the throwing knife and positioning yourself between two dummies. Wonder if the pink is for the blood of the Nessie enemies?

Gold Nessie
Getting the gold Nessie is actually pretty straightforward. To find him, you have to visit eight points of interest in the firing range in any order and use the charge tower. The locations are the Firing Range, Raven's Nest, Agility Course, Tech Tunnel, The Pit, The Belfry, Wolf's Peal, and Training Grounds. This Nessie will spawn inside the center spawn room. He’s a little far back and sits on the right side of the tunnel. Notably, this Nessie doesn’t look very gold at first, but after you’ve picked him up and put him in the right lighting, he’s ready to shine. But he’s charged and ready!
How to get the first Blue Nessie in Apex Legends firing range?
Blue Nessie has been discovered! After a long search, this wily Nessie has been secured. The trick is to toss a throwing knife into the air and hit the middle dummy in the head. It has to be a headshot! The blue Nessie will spawn on the Raven's Nest, a platform above the spawn tunnels. Congratulations! You have the infamous blue Nessie now.
The second blue Nessie
The second blue Nessie is one of the more complicated Nessies to find in the firing range. The first hint for this Nessie came at the bottom of the Harbringers Collection Event.
Nessie hunters quickly figured out that the codes stood for the release dates for Titanfall, Titanfall 2, and Apex Legends. After that, the trail went cold and months of delusional searching ensued. Fortunately, players finally cracked the code.
To unlock the second blue Nessie, you'll have to hit a bullseye with every gun from Titanfall, Titanfall 2, and Apex Legends in order.
How to unlock the second blue Nessie
- Hit a bullseye with all Titanfall weapons: Longbow, Charge Rifle, P2020, RE-45, R-99, R-301, Spitfire, G7 Scout, CAR, Hemlok, Wingman, EVA-8, and Kraber.
- Hit a bullseye with all Titanfall 2 weapons: Mozambique, Mastiff, Alternator, Flatline, Devotion, L-Star, Triple Take, and Volt.
- Finally, hit a bullseye with all Apex Legends weapons: Sentinel, Peacekeeper, 30-30, Rampage, Havoc, Nemesis, Bocek, Throwing Knife, Rampart's Sheila ultimate and Vantage's sniper rifle ultimate.
The blue Nessie will spawn in directly on the targets closest to the weapon racks!
Red Nessie
In Season 19, the devs added a Red Nessie to be found through a clever puzzle. Here's how to unlock this Nessie!
First, play as Ballistic in the Firing Range. Now pick up the R-99, EVA-8, and Devotion (RED, get it?) in that order. Make sure to place the Devotion in your sling! You should hear a little confirmation noise after picking up each gun. After each step is completed successfully, you'll hear this sound again. Here are the next steps you need to follow:
- Kill a dummy while mid-air with the R-99.
- Kill a dummy while over 80 meters away with the EVA-8.
- While on the Drop Ship, kill a dummy with the last bullet of your Devotion mag.
Once all those steps are completed and you've heard the confirmation noise, head over to the island at the back of the Firing Range to collect your Red Nessie!
Moy Parra's yellow and purple polka dot Nessie
Moy Parra, an animation director at Respawn, has a long running YouTube series for Apex Legends animations. In this series is a unique yellow and purple polka dot Nessie, which you can now find in the firing range!
To find the yellow and purple polka dot Nessie, simply emote as all of the Legends that identify as female! Nessie will spawn on the very edge of the walkway above The Pit.
Purple Nessie
Purple Nessie is the newest Nessie in the firing range, as of Season 21, which has not yet been found. In a teaser at the bottom of the patch notes, the devs congratulated everyone on finding all the Nessies! But of course, a purple Nessie peaks out from behind the recently found blue Nessie #2. We'll update you here once we've found purple Nessie!
Balloon Nessie
As of Season 18, a whole new breed of Nessie was added to the firing range. This one has a unique twist, as you have to collect all ten of the original green Nessies to spawn the Balloon Nessie.
Simply gather the green Nessies into a summoning circle and place an Evac Tower in the center. This will spawn a large Balloon Nessie to loom over you from the heavens. Fortunately, the Balloon Nessie doesn't explode like the Evac Tower balloon. In fact, you can spawn as many Balloon Nessies as you want in your firing range!
If these high flying Nessies are familiar to you, it's probably because they are a reused asset from Season 16, titled Revelry. It's great to see them in the skies again!
Additionally, here's how the Nessie's look in your inventory. Another note is that they make a couple of different adorable squeaks when placed and picked up!
As of early September, there is still one missing Nessie according to the devs who designed the firing range. They have confirmed that it is another blue Nessie. If you have any information about our missing blue friend, let us know at @esports on Twitter/X!
